This week's episode of Flying Witch had a couple definitely had the slice of life feel, but it's not having that hook that last week's episode had for me. The episode starts off playing on the cute characteristic of Mako getting lost on her way home. It's so cute, I don't think I really get sick of them making fun of her. A new character was introduced, the Harbinger of Spring, a tall-hooded figure that sounds male and has a creepy owl mask on. Right away from his first appearance I was weary of him, I said out loud to myself, "who is this creepy guy and how does he fit in a slice-of-life anime. Good to know after meeting him he seems like a nice guy. The first piece of this show consists of the Harbinger meeting Mako and Chinatsu after he is done bringing spring to the town. Let me tell you, Chinatsu will carry this show for me, I love everything about her, she instantly mirror's my thoughts about the Harbinger and instantly goes into "stranger danger" mode. It was extremely adorable after when she decides to act cool as though it was just a newspaper salesman at the door, followed by a hilarious casual question of what the number for the police was.

The second piece of this episode just didn't sit right with me, Mako has a dream about Nao swimming across a large body of water (probably the ocean?) followed

by her showing Mako a mole on her neck shaped like the words "super lucky". This was definitely a Nichijou type of skit that I feel didn't fit in the type of show Flying Witch is. They do keep following along with it with Mako explaining the dream and telling Nao a wives tale about witch's dreams coming true. This is quickly cut off by Kei being surprised by finding "bakke" at the side of the road.

After arriving home, Mako and Kei quickly start to cook the bakke, and the right when the show seems to be in a lull, Chinatsu shows up to save the day! Her reaction to the bitter vegetable dish is absolutely adorable, and I related to it well.

Though the show is cute at points, and Chinatsu is a 5-star character, I started watching Flying Witch for the "witch" part, which seems to be on the back-burner of the show. I really hope they continue fleshing out the world, introducing more witches, and really giving some more sense of wonder in the show. As much as I love a chill relaxing slice-of-life, I expect a bit of magic from Flying Witch.
