It's hard to explain how difficult it is to write about this, but this past sunday at 1:30pm we lost a beloved member of the nerd culture community. Eric Madelle, The Pokemon Company's creative design director was tragically lost in a car accident caused during a winstorm in Seward Park, Washington. Though his young daughter was in the back of the car, she survived with minor injuries but not without loss. My condolences to the Madelle family including his wife Carrie and two daughters Iso and Nico. Knowing about his work at The Pokemon Company, and his friendly dimeanor, I'm sure he was a great father and a loving husband.

Eric has worked at The Pokemon Company since 2003, and has worked as the creative design director most notably on Pokemon Heartgold and SoulSilver, and more recently Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire for the Nintendo 3DS. His presence can seriously be felt with the success and huge following of the games he worked on, and hopefully his design ideals with continue further with the new games. It is currently unknown what he was working on at The Pokemon Company but surely we'll hear something about if we worked on the recently announced Pokemon Sun and Moon games as more information comes.

We all send our regards to the Madelle family, but if you feel like you'd like to give more, you can support his daughter's Iso and Nico future and donate to a fund helping them pay for their schooling over at Youcaring.com
